From the desk of the Author
I have taught from grade R to Matric in more schools than any other teacher I know. Twice every year, for 15 years, I have visited a very rural Zulu school in the Southern Drakensburg. In 1976 I pioneered the teaching of Zulu as a Second Additional Language, in Empangeni, Zululand. For 7 years I taught in an all Zulu speaking school.
I am an author and composer of:-
Khanyisa ngesiZulu Series. Work book One, Teachers’ Guide with the C.D of songs and conversations published by Amehlo Okhosi, for Zulu Second Additional Language.
Shine a Light on Zulu, Second Additional Language. Grades O and R, One, Two and Three. Themed lesson plans, grammar points, words for the songs, references for further ideas, summary of all words taught, assessments, concert suggestions and record keeping. Ideal for Teachers and Parents, Zulu Second Additional Language. Published by Jen Whyte Publications / Amehlo Okhosi.
Set of 8 Zulu Readers, for Zulu as Additional and Second Additional Language. Theme related towards conversations with grammar points and vocabulary explained. Published by Fire Fly C.C. The C.D. contains 16 songs and poems used in the books.
Imisindo YesiZulu / Zulu Phonics Ulimi Lokuqala Lokwengeza. Grade One, Two and Three Zulu Phonic workbooks and Teacher Guides authored especially for Government and compliant with every criteria of the CAPS document; for Zulu, as Additional Language. Published by Shuter and Shooters in Pietermaritzburg; with C.D.s. Most popular with remedial teachers too.
It took me 5 years to identify the Zulu Phonics and to write this in graded form especially for Zulu as an Additional Language, suitable grade R – 4+ levels. Only High Frequency Zulu words could be used. This had never been done before and I had the full co-operation of all the S.A. universities. Only then could the CAPS criteria be implemented.
Publisher of C.Ds of conversations, songs and poems for students and Learners of Zulu Additional and Second Additional students. My Zulu Additional/Second Additional Language songs have been performed on many school stages.
I write all this material and produce it in C.D. format myself. Shuter and Shooters use my C.D.s too.
Flash drive / Memory stick / Kwinduku yenkumbulo. All songs, poems and conversations on one flash drive. 32 NEW songs have been added.
See back covers of the Teacher Reference Guides / Imisindo yesiZulu / Zulu Phonics and Language, for a list of the new songs. Asimbonga, Mandela is quite popular as is Sinothando lobhenjane / We love these rhinos.
